I have been avoiding the things that typically make dry skin worse (real hot water, excessive washing, etc) and been slathering myself with all kinds of heavy duty creams (neutrogena norweigan, Vitamin A %26amp; D ointment, Eucerin Cream, Lachydrin, etc) and the problem seems to be getting worse!
Best cream for severly chapped hands?
It sounds like you maybe have eczema. Especially if get irritated by cleaning products, water and lotions. Try to find moisturizers that DO NOT contain artificial fragrance. That is the #1 most irritating ingredient on the skin and lots of over the counter moisturizers contain it. I have found 2 great product to help with eczema. Climate control from dermalogica and baby naturals, an eczema cream in the baby section in Target. The only problem with the baby naturals is that is contains mineral oil and that can cause congestion on the face if you touch your face too much.
Reply:Use plain old cheap Vaseline. Wash your hands and dry it slightly. While it is still damp, slather on Vaseline. Repeat before going to bed.
Reply:i use "healthy hands" by Vaseline. i've only been using it for about 2 weeks but the results are starting to come! my hands are much softer %26amp; my nails look great %26amp; feel strong.

Reply:udder balm!! It works wonders and smells good too!
Reply:Bag Balm. And, if my hands get horrific (as they sometimes do) Bag Balm and gloves for a few hours or overnight.
The stuff is great for many uses. A friend of mine used it for diaper rash on her babies. We use it as standard first aid in the kennel and barn for scrapes, minor burns and other "boo-boos".
It's inexpensive, and a time-proven multitasker.
Reply:there is a cream at natural food stores called. " Hands." it makes your hands like silk i am not kidding all other creams make my hands dry out within 4 hours.
Reply:Try Nivea that you can find at your local Walmart or Walgreens. It comes in a little blue container - it may be a little expensive (maybe), but use it on your hands. Years ago when I worked for a grocery store, I was constantly washing my hands in the bakery dept. After a while my hands became very chapped, especially across my knuckles. I used Nivea and it helped alot. Now I use Bath %26amp; Body Works hand lotion everyday.
Reply:I noticed that someone said Vaseline, which is a really great suggestion, I just felt the need to add on to it, as I go through the same thing, my hands crack and burn everytime I even wash the dishes.
Get yourself some Olay hand cream, put a layer of that on, then take a huge gob of vaseline and slather on your hands, after that, put socks on your hands and go to bed. The cream provides minerals and vitamins and the vaseline, which also softens seals the cream in so that it lasts longer. Do this for a week or so, nonstop and then a few times a week, you will be amazed at the difference!
