I need help looking after my skin?

What's the best way to take care of your skin? Getting rid of spots.. blotchiness.. I've tried face masks and spot cream.. are there any other things?

I need help looking after my skin?
if the spots are really bad c your doctor they can give you a course of antibiotics to try and sort it out
Reply:I'M A TRAINEE BEAUTY THERAPIST WHY DONT YOU GET A FACIAL IT LEAVES YOUR SKIN FEELING WONDERFUL
Reply:Ugh, I have them to , the best thing I've found so far is Noxzema's face scrub cream, wash your face once in the morning and once at night and TADA! they are gone. You can find at any store that carries beauty products
Reply:Getting into a good skin care regime is always a good idea. Most lines have products that address various skin types. Start with a good cleanser, and then a moisturizer. It may be a good idea for you to use a micro-dermabrasion a couple times a week. I can attest to Dr. Brandt microdermabrasion. Also Philosophy is very reputable. Just remember to look for a line the is ideal for you skin type.
Reply:Could be diet related...you could pay for a private consultation with a dermatologist, or go to a skin clinic, or talk to some of the more knowledgable girls at the body shop
Reply:sometimes the problem can be that you're doing too much to get rid of the spots... use products for sensitive skin, and just wait them out rather than trying to get rid of them in record time. Give your skin a bit of a rest and use products for sensitive skin with a minimum of nasty-sounding chemicals in the ingredients.

I've got some tea tree oil I use directly on spots, and it works wonders... I also use an oil-based cleanser and a really gentle moisturiser (both from Lush) which are great.

Also... stress and diet have a LOT to do with skin problems. So make sure you're eating a healthy diet, and try to sit back and relax for a bit every now and again.
Reply:Hi, I actually read these really good articles about skin care, you'll find more useful information there I'm sure, I did. Here is the link:

Reply:well if you have trouble with your skin you should stop useing face masks they can iratate your skin. and drink lots of water about 8-10 glasses of water a day. and hold back on the soda and candy that dosnt help your skin t can make t break out.and dont forget to wash you face twice a day. use clean and clear oil free and i t really works
Reply:I dont use soap on my face under any circumstances and havent for years now. I use a facial wash/cleanser instead. Try to minimise the amount of makeup and give your skin valuable "free" time. Mix your foundation with moistouriser on your hand berfore applying to your face to stop the foundation drying the skin out and removing valuable nutrients, also goes on easier.

I find face masks bring spots out more as they are drawing out imputities, thats why they say to use a week prior to a special occasion; so they have chance to clear up.

Dont let your skin dry out, a facial spritzer is great to carry about as it can freshen your skin whilst replacing moisture.

I also let my skin get plenty of air, my bedroom window is always open a bit to let air in, especially if the heating is on otherwise it gets too hot and dry and the same for the skin.

Dont use too many potions, find a couple that you like and leave it at that as I think you can over do it. Some moisturisers are too heavy and not absorbed by the skin so well so sit there on top of the skin instead. You need a light one that absorbs in and feels light, if it feels light your skin will still be able to breathe.

Sitting in a warm bath with the door shut helps to open the pores and get rid of impurities too.

If you smoke it doesnt help your skin one bit, I have friends whose skin has improved loads once they have quit too. Too much alchohol has adverse affects too. Drink lots of water its great for keeping skin from drying out thus subtle and full of its natural elasticity aswell as helping your body flush out harmful toxins.

Vitamin A is important for healthy skin and can be found in milk, cheese and liver. I think this is why some peoplpe that are dieting can develop problem skin as one of the first things that can go in a diet is cheese due to its high fat content/calories. However it provides the essential fat for the skin and hair and cell re-growth.

So in short: Vit A, air, water on skin aswell as in body. No soap, clean with face cleansers/washes and be careful with make-up and moisturiser not to block your pores.

Pamper yourself with baths to kep your pores free from impurities. Its a good excuse.
Reply:Skin peels work wonders. If you need any advice just mail me as I am a beauty therapist.
Reply:You need to get a professional facial. They can recommend what to use on your face. You dont necessarily need the brands they shove off on you, but I would use similar products. If that doesnt help see a dermatologist.
Reply:really it depends on your age. if you are young, you will get spots anyway. the most important thing is to clean your skin and not with soap.

non perfumed products are best, something vit c is good. face masks will bring out impurities in your skin so dont do it just before you are going out on a night out. drink plenty of water, i know its what you hear all the time but it is the best way of clearing out the system
Reply:I am a thirty four year old mother of three ranging in age from thirteen to sixteen, both of my daughters and myself use the Philosophy range morning and night it is vitally important to cleanse tone and moisturise at these times. Believe it or not but I had spots at the same time as my daughters and still do have the very rare breakout, Philosophy products target the Sebum and slow it down so the spots will dry out and with continued use they will disappear however at the time of the month you may get the odd spot. I would advise you to stick to one set of products for a month to six weeks by this time you should know if the products are going to help your skin. Remeber when you wash your face with a facial cleanser or combined cleanser/toner your skin should never feel tight. Philosophy do a Jump Starters Kit which lasts approximately four to six weeks and give you time to see if the product is going to work before buying full size products. QVC do this kit and the reason I would reccommend them is if you feel towards the end of the thirty day trial period they give with all their products you can phone up and tel them you are returning whats left as you can't see a difference in your skin. If (and I would be surprised the products didn't work) you find the products are working for you shop around don't feel compelled to buy from QVC as I have found out you can get philosophy products cheaper elsewhere.

There are a few sites below if you wish to try the philosophy range, I know my daughters and myself would highly reccommend all of their range.

Good Luck with your product search.

Reply:i swear buy liz earls cleanse and polish its fantastic

i buy it from qvcbut think she has her own website were you can buy it dirrrect
Reply:first thing first you have to find out what kind of skin you have and DONT use spot creams they dont work they dry the skin out which can lead to more spots, the beast thing to do is pop down to your local beauty salon and ask for a skin analyse and they should tell you the best products for you to use
Reply:hiya!

Well i have always used the facial wash and facial scrub from the naturals collection. they are great because they are made from natural sorces which is always best for the skin.

use the facial wash morning and night which will moisturise your skin and leave it spot free.

use the facial scrub 1nce a week and that will take off the dead skins cells from your face leaving your face silky smooth!

you must give these products time before they work at least 2-3 weeks but guranteed results!

Good luck with everything!!
