I got a tattoo a little over a year ago on my wrist of a star coloured in pink and black. The black ink healed fine however the pink is itchy and inflamed. The pink ink feels like brail on my skin. Slowely the pink ink is fading and it seems to be pushing itself out of my skin. I have about 7 others and none of them have ever healed like this before. Ive tried using cortozone cream and vasculine and polysporin but nothing is helping. Anyone have any ideas?
My skin is rejecting my tattoo. What do I do?
Go to a doctor and to a tattooist for advice. However, one thing I will mention is this - I had something almost exactly the same. I had a red tattoo done on my wrist and my wrist swelled up, it was weeping a clear coloured liquid a lot, it flaked and a lot of the colour was fading. I visited my doctor because I was worried a bad needle had been used. He said that there was nothing wrong except that red ink contains certain properties that can cause inflammation and can affect the blood cells most especially in areas like the wrist. I'm guessing the same might apply to you because your black ink healed just fine, and I have a black tattoo done on the other wrist.
He told me that I should wait it out and it would settle down. It did eventually, but it's kind of faded and needs to be touched up. So unfortunately - it might just be a case of the pink colour not really taking to the skin of the wrist. However - I would still visit your doctor and tattooist just in case!
Reply:Have you ever used this particular color or brand of ink before? It might be a delayed allergic reaction to the ink. Please stop putting anything other than unscented undyed lotion on your tattoo until you receive the opinion of a professional.
I would first go back to your tattoo artist and see what they have to say. If their answer doesn't satisfy you and the itching/inflamation persists, see a doctor that you know and trust (and one that doesn't hate mods!).
Reply:i have the same problem, i get itchy on certain spots of my tattoos and get bumps but i just put cream on it and it goes a while but the moment i stop putting cream on it, it starts back up again...and its the shading of black on mine not color...i would say to go see a doctor, mine said there was nothing wrong just that my skin is dry and now with a tattoo i would just need to apply lubriderm...it works for me
Reply:well first of all maybe go to the doctor to see why its rejecting it and make sure you dont have an infection or that the needle the artist used didn't have like hiv on it or something....other than that theres not much you can do...unless once it heals just colour the rest in with black since your skin doesn't seem to have a problem with the black ink..
Reply:I would definitely say go see a doctor.. especially because it's itching, thats odd. I have stars on my wrist too :) a group of them, all black though.
Reply:you are having an allergic reaction. go see you physician for treatment.
Reply:Have it erased, your skin is manifesting rejection so do act now!
