Urgent help please!!!! OILY SKIN- RED FACE-UNEVEN SKIN TONE?

hey u, im a 21 yr old male from australia and ive got a huge problem!!! ill start by saying i had acne when i was young and used to pick at it all tha time and over the last couple of years my face has gone really red, i still get pimples on my face/back, n my face has heaps open pores all the time, and i get heaps oily skin on my face, even if i do nothing, but especially in the sun or a warm environment. I saw a skin specialist and he gave me differin gel with neautrogena face wash for the oilyness (it was too harsh so he gave me the cream based differin) that also is causing my face to flake and peel. Im starting to get soooooo sick of trying things, i jus want something thats gunna help me, as its really getting me down cos im constantly interacting with people and its making everything too hard!!! Would accutane or roaccutane be an option???? i would appreciate any help

Reply:eat healthy, work out, sweat, drink lots of water, these are all things that will help immensly.
Reply:I'm not a dermatologist so I would seek help there first. I did however suffer from severe acne when I was a teen. This is how I took care of mine: I would shower twice a day and let the warm water cleanse my pours of my skin (do not pick at your face no matter what / dirt and germs) but I only used a soap called Ivory on my face once a day, each time that I showered though I would put in flesh tone Clearasil and when I went to bed I would use stridex pad to remove any excess oils from my face but I used a clean stridex whenever I would wipe off the oils. I didn't have to wait to long to see results but I would say it took about a week to see a difference. Clean pillow cases a must to keep from bacteria getting into the pours. Give it a shot as it can't hurt (you have to stay with it if it's working for you) , Good luck!
Reply:you have some thing called KP which is a skin condition dont worry there are alot of people who have the same problem go on this website and see if it sounds familular

Reply:I'm in the same position as you, it really gets me down when I look in the mirror and see really red oily skin, I also have very pale skin under my eyes so I get asked a lot if I'm tired and if I dont get asked that I get asked if I'm sun burnt. Very depressing and can take away most of your self-esteem. These sound like signs of early rosacea and I've had some dermatologist tell me I have it and others say its just how I am. Whether this is true or not I've found that products like differin, accutane, tretinoin(vitamin A derivatives) don't work so well for our type of skin and only make it worse. I've been taking evening primrose oil 3 times a day for about 3 months and this seems to be starting to help, I also wash my face with a facial soap made specifically for sensitive skin(Clean%26amp;clear sensitive skin deep action cream cleanser), and then use aloe vera gel (stay away from lotions with alcohols). At night time I apply a thin layer of benzoyl peroxide over my face which seems to help a lot with the acne. I've also heard that diluted tea tree oil blotted on the face with a cotton ball can help, I tried it and it didn't seem to help me but its worth a shot. Any change you see will be over time though so don't expect overnight results... on the emotional level, its hard but just try and accept how you are and see the other things in life, one of my favorite quotes is "everything in life has beauty but not everyone sees it." I also limit the time i look in the mirror, standing there and fixating on what we don't like about ourselves only make things worse, so I comb my hair, brush my teeth and go. Remember you are not alone, its all about mindset, you are happy if you chose to be :-)
