Benzoyl Peroxide? Also, what acne cream is the best?

Benzoyl Peroxide? Also, what acne cream is the best?

I heard on the radio that Benzoyl Peroxide is harmful and useless on acne, and that it has been outlawed in Europe and Japan, I believe. Is this true? Should I stop using Proactiv because of it?

I have normal skin, not dry or oily, but I do have some zits on my chin and forehead. Proactiv doesn't seem to be helping, and I've been using it for a couple months, so I want to switch. Which acne medication works the best for normal skin?

I have always had a problem with acne. The only product that has helped me I got from my doctor. Its called BenzaClin. It took a couple of weeks to see the results, but my skin looks fantastic!
Reply:Benzoyl Peroxide is the main ingrediant in most perscription grade acne medication, and a lot of non-perscription brands as well, don't stop using something if its working for you just because you hear some rumor.
Reply:I've never heard that about Benzoyl Peroxide.

But I can suggest two different lines from BeautiControl. I have had several clients use the All Clear line after trying and buying everything out there, including Proactiv, and they experience wonderful results. There is also another line called Skinlogics....it doesn't have any benzoyl peroxide in it...just salicylic acid.

I personally have used both and only have trouble in my chin area and found that Skinlogics is enough for my skin. All Clear can be a little to drying for some.

I hope that helps....at least give you other options to check out.
Reply:Benzoyl Peroxide is only dangerous if you are allergic to it which is why there have been questions about its safety. Don't worry about it though because you would know if you were allergic to it. I had a severe reaction to an acne cream containing it and it burnt all the skin off my face - i was very ill and it was the most terrifying experience ever! It was given to me by a dermatologist though so they obviously rate it and think it is safe. If you don't want to use anything with benzyl peroxide in you could try zineryt which works really well

Good luck xxxx
Reply:Benzoyl Peroxide makes your skin dry and it can become irritated because of it. If you don't have severe acne I would recommend Aloette's Basic skin care line. and for the few breakouts I would use their acne lotion. The good thing about the basic skin care line is that it contains a makeup remover, cleanser, toner, nutri hydrating mist (90% pure aloe and great for many uses), a moisturizer, a scrub, a wrinkle cream, and an eye gel. (we are never too young to think about wrinkles). That is a lot of products. Aloette's products are Aloe based not water based so they can naturally heal the skin and penetrate into the skin five times deeper than water based products.

If you do have severe acne I would recommend Aloette's simply clear line. It is awesome and I see first hand because my hubby uses it! However, if you don't have bad acne I would not use it. This line has a cleanser, toner, moisturizer, and acne lotion. I sell Aloette but I tell people about it because I truly love it and I don't care if you buy it from me or someone else. I just think everyone should use it. If you would like to know more about it contact me or check out the aloette website. sw090104@yahoo.com
Reply:If people are saying to stop using bensoyl peroxide than you might as well not use anything at all. that's what most products contain for acne. It's the strongest out there. (by the way proactiv isn't good for ur skin in general once you stop using it, you'll get acne again) good luck
Reply:This is not true. Benzoyl peroxide is still the safest and cheapest way to get rid of acne. It is not an antibiotic so you can use it more than once or twice a day.

If the benzoyl peroxide doesn't work for your skin anymore, use Retinoic acid at night, or topical Clindamycin. These are available over the counter.
