How to clear my skin up?

Ok, I'm not a teenage kid, I'm 23 and just recently my skin has come out like a 15 year olds acne and I can't figure out why! I've always been very careful with my skin but it's suddenly horribly oily (I would have thought it would have dried out in the colder weather?!) and I have a whole load of spots along my jawline and chin which aren't going away.

I currently use St. Ives exfoliator in the morning and their cream wash in the evening, both followed by a a tea tree toner and an anti-blemish anti-bacterial anti-grease moisturiser.

The oily skin I can handle as I blot it, but the spots just look silly on someone my age and they don't seem to be shifting!!

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can change my routine or what else I can do to try and shift them? I would have though what I was doing was ok, but in the past month or so it seems to be failing me :o(

Thanks for your help ^.^

How to clear my skin up?
Try BIO-OIL or vitamin E tablets
Reply:alot of people swear by proactive, let me know how it works
Reply:I like the Clinique 3 step solution

It has 3 steps to clear your skin(obviously)

And they have it for many types of skin :oily, dry, etc..
Reply:eat more fruits and veggie on a regular base and drink more water
Reply:If all else fails a dermatoligist will help! They will give you things that will help better than most all over the counter stuff

ps the sudden acne might be hormonal most acne is
Reply:drink lots of water
Reply:Hippysse, you may be combining too many different things from too many different lines. I too have oily skin and am twice your age, but I control it with the skin care products at aularale.com/7002. Their products are for people w/sensitive skin and they also have a Fade Gel that will get rid of dark spots. Other than changing your skin care routine, I also suggest that you drink lots more water than you currently do, eat more fresh fruit and veggies (avoid fried foods) and start taking a good vitamin/mineral supplement. Also, avoid/control the stress in your life.
Reply:Apples and Bananas!

Also, try sorta scrubbing the skin lightly every night to get the dirt/dead skin off your face.

Also, try changing your pillow cover more often. Some dirt may be stuck in it and irritating your face.
Reply:I feel your pain. I never had a zit until my 21st birthday!! I have battled with what my doctor calls adult onset acne. That has irony all over it!?!

Since I turned 21 and I am 24 now I have battled with my my complexion. Battling new stresses in my life with work and relationships did not help it either. I finally have it under control and I do not know if these things will help you because everyone is different with acne.

1) I stopped using a harsh exfoliater. It is good to exfoliate your face, but not everyday. I was told that scrubbing your face can spread the bacteria and cause more breakouts!!

I started using a gel cleanser and only exfoliate 2 or 3 times a week and only when I am in the shower so I can completely rinse my face.

2) I also started using higher end skin care products. I used to buy all my face washes and moisturizers from drugstores. These acne treatments are not geared towards the acne I have. I started using Lacome and Clinque face systems and noticed a dramatic difference suddenly (within a week). Believe me it is worth the money.

** Just for your info Pro active has been bought out by Clinque and there 3 step product is considered a better line and is less expensive.

3) I started using a toner and moisutrizer after I washed my face. Toners help cleanse deeper into the pores getting rid of bacteria and oil, but you need to restore some of the oils that are lost with a moisturizer. If not your pores will make too much oil and cause you to have oily skin.

4) The one thing I am guilty of for my breakout is my touching my face and neck. Being a porfessional or student now, you probably use more focus and do not realize you are resting your hand on your neck or chin.

5) I consulted my doctor about my Birth Control. Your body is not the same as when you were a teenager and you might need a different birthcontrol to balance your hormones at your age.

6) Lastly, I started to go to tanning bed. Now I am not saying to go fry yourself. But getting a little bit of UV rays helps your skin. If you do not want to go to a tanning bed try to go out in the sun to give your face a LITTLE exposure!!

I hope these tips help because I know that it is very discouraging to have to deal with acne when you are in this stage of life!!
Reply:try proactive, or i use clinique's three step fash wash system its nice and its all hypoallergenic which is really good for your face.

try going to a dermatologist if you feel you need to be seen

but try maybe going to the clinique makeup place near you and get evaluated and get good qualty things

try a different generic brand in the mean time like clean and clear or such i like some stuff by them

just make sure your not leaving makeup on your face at nite

did you switch makeup lately and your reacting to that?
Reply:Most of the time acne comes with hormones or bacteria. Maybe one of your skin products have been infected with bacteria. Oil production most of the time is when the glands think that your skin is too dry and they produce more oil then you need, which leads to acne. Maybe your toner is too strong and your moisturizer is too light. Your moisturizer also has anti bacteria and has extreme drying substances. Exfoliating everyday sounds harsh also, try to do it just once or twice a week instead of everyday. Also, everyone says to drink 8 glasses of water everyday so do it! Drinking water promotes getting all that gross stuff in your body to go out and makes your skin clear.
Reply:umm a hassle free way to get your face looking healthy is to buy Cocoa butter and shea it comes in a 32 0z bottle (look for it at wal-mart) its great for any color skin put it on when you take a shower and at night when you go to Bed

hope i helped
