How can I help my dry, flaky skin?

My skin is not horrible, but it is not amazing either. I am a teenager and my skin appears to have problems, especially on my arms and legs. But mostly, my arms are the worst.

On my arms I have very dry, flaky, and cracked skin, it is a bit annoying and it doesn't feel good, at all, plus i sometimes get nervous someone will look at my arms and be like... Ew.

I use a moisturizing cream every day after I shower, and it helps for like a half of an hour, and then my skin just goes back to its old flaky, dry, gross state. It looks like I have redness and these little white patches of dry skin with little white dots coming up.

It has been this way for some time now and I really want to help it but none of my self-care treatments of moisturizing, and oils are working.

What can I do?

How can I help my dry, flaky skin?
flaky and dry skin can appear unpleasant, having this can make you feel embarrassed and it's time to find the right solution for it and it is using an all natural skin care moisturizer. this can help lock in moisture to the skin, keeping it away from drying and protecting it from free radical damage.

you can also do things to prevent the skin from drying like having healthy habits. try to have enough rest, exercise and plenty of sleep for this can encourage good looking skin. for more skin care tips visit http://www.skinsosilky.com
Reply:drink lots water, eat fruit on daily basis..and dont shower with too much hot water
Reply:put on the bottle of cream
Reply:Believe it or not, my wife has had the same problem...after her shower she uses Vaseline on her skin and lets it absorb into her skin. After a week or so, her skin got baby soft and the condition dissapeared! May be worth a try. Also fluid hydration is very helpful...drink more H2O and less soda and carbonated stuff.
Reply:Try aloe vera gel.

Either fresh from a plant (seems you should buy/plant one in the garden, if you don't have one)...or buy some gel from the pharmacy. Aloe can hurt a little bit at first, but that's mainly the action of enzymes rebuilding cells, etc.

Fresh aloe has loads of powerful healing enzymes, and can only improve the balance/ecology of your skin. It seems that common moituriser would just agravate the redness/instability at the moment.
Reply:It sounds like you have more than just a bad case of dry skin. With the redness and little white patches it sounds like you have eczema, you need to talk to your doctor, there is a special cream he/she can prescribe for this condition. It will make it much more managable, or it may disappear completely.
Reply:Buy a lufa mit and Vaseline brand makes a new cocoa oil (it's more like a gel) use this in the shower every day.

It really is wonderful. (Clear bottle brown top it's about $9)

Do not use baby oils or creams that contain mineral oil as this actually dries your skin out.

Someone suggested Vaseline (no petroleum based anything is not good for you at all) in the long run it's drying out your skin.. Vaseline (BRAND) makes the above cocoa oil (use pure/natural products)

Drink more water and take vitamins a e and c orally.
