Skin products you buy from spas?

are skin products you buy for your face from a spa usually good?

how can you tell if they are non-comedogenic? i just bought an enriched day cream from a spa but i'm not sure if it will clog my pores. i checked most of the ingredients on a comedogenic list and the ingredients i could find on the list are non-comedogenic. the only one i couldn't find was octyldodecnol. does anyone know what that is?

Octyldodecanol is a very commonly used excipient in cosmetic preparations. It functions as an emulsifier (an ingredient that help mixed oily component into the water based cream or lotion) and is normally used at a low levels.

Skin products that one might purchased from a spa vary widely in quality. There are certainly well developed and good quality skin products sold in a spa, but one run a much higher risk of purchasing a poorly developed and poorly quality-controlled product. As for myself, I normally go with well-established brands as I think it's not worth risking my face to unknown elements.

However, if you do want to try out a new brand, and if you have sensitive skin, I would suggest applying a small amount around the surrounding of your armpit (not in your armpit) and see if any redness (irritation) occurs with time. If the product is tolerated (no redness after a couple of applications on different days), then slowly ease into applying the product onto your face.

Good luck.
