Oily skin and make-up?

i have oily skin, the occasional spot here and there, im thinking of buying a powder foundation so i dont shine. but will powder be able to cover up well enough? i was thinking of using a powder or cream one but they already have oil in them so im not too keen on adding even more oil on! also,i heard you need to put on a "make up base" first so the powder sticks.....whats a "make up base" and how do i apply it etc?

Oily skin and make-up?
You don't really need a makeup base, but it does help the makeup stick. I use Smashbox Photo Finish, but I think it has oil in it. I have heard that they make an oil free one, but I have never seen it. Laura Mercier makes a nice primer, and Dr. Feelgood by Benefit is supposed to be nice.
Reply:I have combination oily-dry skin. I use a powder to control the oils and they cover pretty well. The best thing to do is go to Macy's and talk to one of the cosmetologists there. They can find the best product for your face. I use Sheisedo because in my opinion they have the best product I've tried so far.
Reply:Try the oil free makeup
Reply:I think you should try Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation. It's oil free. I was told I should always wear a moisturizer with it or it will dry my skin, but I imagine since you have oily skin, you could just put it on and it would absorb the oil. I have combination skin and acne on my chin and I use this product and when it's on I don't even need powder. Even though I still notice the texture of the acne on my chin, the product does cover up probably 90% of the discoloration there which gets quite red. My boyfriend's mother told me that she didn't even realize I had acne on my chin when I was wearing the stuff until I mentioned it and she looked closer. The website says it is medium coverage, but it is really full coverage.

I've been wearing this now for 6 years, I love the coverage it gives, and it suits all skintypes, I have found in the summer months, that i get a bit of shine breaking through mid morning on my T-zone. I recently found that I felt it might be too heavy for my skin, and decided to try out another brand, ( Doir), but i very quickly went back to DW, I think its the best foundation on the market. You get very used to the great coverage it gives and nothing else can match up to it. The beauty rep at the EL counter told me its perfect for my skin, combination and my age! I often think i'd like to look a bit more natural, but i've found nothing else that gives the coverage like it does. I tried to use a paler shade but ended up looking ill. So I've decided to keep using my shade for now ( ivory beige) and review it when i get on another few years!!

I recommened it to my sister, a few of my friends and now my daughter wears it also and loves it, Its like an institution in our family!

This is the best long wearing foundation! It goes on a little thicker then other foundations but I apply it with a damp sponge and it gives a gorgeous natural finish.

It is the only foundation I have tried that controls shine all day. I wish the bottle had a pump though.

In my high school and college days I didn't have a lot of money to spend on makeup and bought other drugstore brands of foundation. This changed when I found myself wanting to look extra nice for a wedding and a friend's mom suggested I try the Estee Lauder Counter. I had a hard time with the price at first, but found Estee Lauder Double Wear to be well worth the money. It goes on smooth with great coverage, doesn't look cakey, and leaves my skin with an even, natural finish. On top of that it looked fresh ALL DAY. It didn't seem to fade or wear off or end up looking oily even after hours of wear. I love that it doesn't have any perfumey smell to it, and I have never seen my face look so flawless.

I have tried other brands since then just to see if paying even more for a foundation would provide even better results, but have returned to Estee Lauder Double wear. People always tell me I look several years younger than I am, and I think my foundation has a lot to do with it. An added bonus is the SPF, which I think is very important in preventing sun damage and wrinkles. This makeup lasts so long and the coverage is so good, that it is worth the extra money. Why not spend a little more on the main thing people notice about me EVERY DAY?? I highly recommend Estee Lauder Double Wear.
