Help with Oily Skin and Acne Nothing seems to compeltely work!?

I have acne and very oily skin. I use something my doctor prescribed but I still have acne. I have a routine I do every day

In the morning I wash my face with St. Ives Apricot Scrub. Then I apply the topical gel my doctor prescribed. It has benzoyl peroxide and clidalacyne in it. (not sure if i spelled those right)

Should I give this medicine some time to work? I've been using the cream for about a month. I just started using apricot scrub with it this week.

Does anybody have suggestions or products to use with oily skin? Help please!

Help with Oily Skin and Acne Nothing seems to compeltely work!?
You have to attack acne where it starts, with your diet. For me, diet was the cause and solution. Topical medications fight the symptoms. Start by eliminating trans fats and eating more fruits and vegetables. Once you start cleaning up the inside of your body, by eating properly, the outside of your body (your skin) will be get cleaned up too. I started a website to document my problem and solution.

You might find it helpful to read my story. Just remember to eat an all natural/organic diet with lots of fruits and vegetables. Stay away from processed foods. Use mild, all natural cleansers and don't pick at your face. Get lots of sleep and enough water for your body weight. Remember, clean body = clean skin. While you're waiting for your skin to clear, remind yourself that acne is a challenge that you will overcome soon. Once you're rid of it, tell all your friends how you did it. That's what I'm doing. God Bless.
Reply:I have oily skin, huge pores and excema on my face. Go and see an esthetician, maybe they can help. They helped me.
Reply:i have that scrub, only use it once a week!

itll irritate your skin darlin.

Use head and shoulders, no joke, i was on medicine for my acne and i had proactiv and all this ****...

nothing cleared my skin up like head and shoulders, worked in liek 2 weeks.

but youll need a good moisturizer becuase it dries your skin up, which isnt totally bad.. no oil = no food for germies to feed on =)
Reply:Use Clinac O.C.- it works well, and you can buy it online.
Reply:Im a beautician. My boyfriend is Asian and has the same problem. He now uses only palmolive dish soap to bath with and loves the affect. Also, he recently started using pro-active on his face and neck. He seems to have soriasis on his neck and pimples. Since he started that it has almost completely gone. Before he started proactive I told him to use SeaBreeze origional formula on his skin then lightly pat with a cold rag when finished. It really worked. I use it on my feet and elbows when they get dry and crack. After bathing and then I put a lotion on over that. You won't believe how it gets rid of elephant elbows!!!
Reply:Wait for the medication to kick in. Uuse L'oreal exfoliator three times a day and that should keep the oil away.
Reply:yoga will surely help u ...if u learn kunjal ...it is an art of drinking luke warm water early morning empty stomach n taking it out ...but has to b done under an instructor 's instruction...
Reply:A great product that got rid of my acne entirely was something simple.

Bergamot essential oil. You MUST be careful about getting alot of sun when you first out( I mean put) it on but it absolutely destroys acne. and you usually get a nice tan where ever you put it.

It is really cheap too.

Just apply it twice a day.
Reply:nutragene makes a soap that is very good it is in a white and orange pkg. it will clear up your skin right away. i used it and it helpen when nothing else would. i tried proactive, oxy , everything tyr it it will work i promise
Reply:i suggest dawn dish detergent. it really kills oil, and is great for oily hair too. you have to be careful though, because it starts to irritate your skin after a while. make sure you use a moisturizer (oil free of course! and yes you still need to moisturize, that is a leading mistake of people with oily skin, thinking they don't need to moisturize) afterwards. and i use clearasil icewash every other day i don't use the dawn, it works great and makes your skin tingly too. don't wash your face too much, it causes your skin to make excess oil. i only do it once but run astringent over my face twice a day. this little routine i do, i do it every single day (which is the first time i ever did something every single day the same way) and i have done it for almost 3 months and my skin looks great. i still have breakouts though, but that's life.
Reply:I am fond of Neutrogena On the Spot Acne Treatment... I apply it twice a day. In the am and pm only in area that I have acne as it zaps it up in no time... I don't use it all over as I have learned that it drys my face out, but where as your skin seems to be the opposite and too oily perhaps that could help you there as well.

This stuff is truly amazing. I don't usually preach about acne products as most of them are a waste of money and do not work, but this is the GOD of acne treatments!
Reply:use the st. ives once a week. i saw my dermatologist for the same problem. continue the medication that the doc presciped and also get this product called "purpose". its a soap free hypoallergenic face wash. it costs about $5-$6 but it is well worth it. i have pretty oily skin and my derm. reccomended purpose to me some time over the summer and have been using it every day since then. i haven't had oily skin since.
Reply:Try using cleapores or zenmed this treatment is pretty good.
Reply:i would see your dermatoligist and dont use a scrub everyday
Reply:just try to wash your face three times daily. don't eat greasy stuff and exercise a lot. lots of cardio and lots of water my friend."

this is a body composition disorder that you' ll never get rid off, and you can only control by doing what i wrote above."

that's nature what you are dealing with. now don't try to alter nature, it will catch you. all those chemicals are making people rich, so do the right thing baby." exercise a lot, be addicted to exercising and sweating."
Reply:omg, finally someone to relate to. I use clindamyacin too. My acne isnt terrible but here are some things i reccomend:

proactiv

retinae micro

solodyn(oral medication)

neutrogena invigorating scrub and moisturizer/mask

for make up use maybelline pure make up its made with water instead of oil and I noticed a huge difference when i started using it. to get rid of the face oil, cut down on junk food and eat healthier.
Reply:One of the best and least expensive astringents for oily skin is something called Witch Hazel. It's been around forever and you can find it in the pharmacy dept at WalMart. It's very gentle on the skin ( and that's important with acne) You ought to be able to get a big old bottle for a couple of bucks.

Reply:If you’re looking for accurate acne information, best to see a dermatologist. Some people believe doctors are predisposed to take the easy way to deal with acne… prescription drugs. But, with many, this simplistic answer may not be the appropriate course of action. Some feel that such prescription drugs just treat the symptoms and not the underlying cause. But, a local dermatologist is still your best starting point.

For me personally, I discovered a great informational acne treatment site. Not only is there good information/articles but I got their audio e-book and following it’s advice can now say that my acne is a thing of the past! Keep in mind, were all different and there are various types of acne, so what works for some may not be totally effective for all.

Bottom line, hang in there, you will get past this! Sincere best wishes and good luck.

Oh, by the way the site that helped me is:

Reply:I think that the apricot scrub is a bad idea to use as a cleanser/exfoliator. The pieces of grit in this product have sharp edges which can scratch the skin and make the infection from the acne spread. It would be best for you to use a nice foamy cleanser for oily skin... Dermalogica's special cleansing gel, its a bit pricey but a great product. . An exfoliant that is not gritty would probably be a better idea. I suggest the Daily Microfoliant, also by Dermalogica. The best advice I can give you is to see an esthetician or skin care specialist.

good luck
