Is it my hormones? Skin of external genital area problem!?

I am 39 yrs old. Within the last 4-6 months I have experienced a change in my skin in the external genital area. I have even had (painful) skin crack and bleed, as if pulled too hard. Also this cracking has occurred as far as the crack of my butt. I have tried Zinc Oxide cream, OTC and RX yeast meds, dove soap, ivory soap, vaseline, and Gold Bond Powders. Nothing seems to change it. It goes away for a short time when I get my period. Everything heals and there is no irritation. What is going on with me? I have no STD's and am in a stable, monogamous relationship. I am wondering if it's hormones.

You may want to go see the doctor. This sounds like the early stages of menopause. It is common for women to have dryness in the vaginal area during the early stages of menopause. Have your hormone levels checked. When your hormones are on a roller coaster ride, your "sex organs" are the ones that respond first. It could also be a number of things, but you should see your doctor.

Good luck.
Reply:Did you change detergents recently? It sounds a little like contact dermatitis. I'd have your dr. check it out.
Reply:it may be a fungus (ala jock itch) caused by moisture that lingers. you might try OTC antifungal ointment. or, it may go away in the winter, when less moisture gets trapped in that area.
